Freakish snow event Thursday Night for Northern Dacks
I got various reports of 8-12 inches of snow for the Northern Dacks last night from the disturbance that moved through. I only measured 1.5 inches at my house, but there was 0.28 inches of liquid....very wet! The hills surrounding my house look whiter, so probably at least a few inches up there.
This is "Adirondack" Weather Site, but I admit that I do focus on the south-central Adirondacks because that's where I live and play. Hamilton County, alone, is nearly the size of Rhode Island (but with FAR fewer people). So the Adirondacks are a large area to monitor. With the Friday storm coming up and my hometown only getting a minor snowfall last night, it was too easy for me to overlook what was happening further north.

Tupper Lake got 6" or so of Sierra Cement overnight. Started yesterday about 3pm with wet snow thn rain/snow mix about 6pm, light snow through 11pm about 1" by then. Overnight we got the bulk of it, radar loop looks like we got hit between 3-6am. Sun is out now melting it, sure feels and looks like spring. Darrin, how's that Bermuda High looking?

ReplyDeleteThe warmup for March may be blunted somewhat by a very large cold pool over Canada. It might be an active stormy pattern coming up.
Will do more of a write-up on that over the weekend.
Thanks for the reports. They help!
